The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) is participating in the Big Give’s Green Match Fund (GMF) to raise money for our work supporting communities to take climate action.

The climate emergency is an urgent, global problem that can feel overwhelming and too complex to solve alone. Local action offers tangible solutions that meet communities’ needs and add up to meaningful change. CSE provides bespoke support including one-to-one guidance, innovative tools and helpful resources to enable the transition to net zero.

From 22-29 April, every penny donated to CSE will be doubled. 

How CSE supports communities with climate action

For over 45 years, CSE has supported local groups to develop bespoke climate action plans specific to their neighbourhoods. Working with local people, we identify changes they can make that meet the needs and aspirations of the community.

Our mission is to provide communities with the tools, resources and support they need to make meaningful change in their area. From calculating local carbon emissions to retrofitting local buildings for more affordable energy bills to setting up social enterprises for community energy, we help communities take local action that adds up to global impact.

CSE’s tailored guidance is informed by years of experience and expertise meaning we’re in a unique position to help communities of all shapes, sizes and capabilities. Your donation will help us to support even more communities, as well as develop resources that can be shared widely.

• £20 doubles to £40 – this helps keep our useful resources like our Community Retrofit Guide, free, up to date and accessible!   
• £50 doubles to £100 – this ensures our tools such as our Impact Community Carbon calculator can continue to help people understand their carbon footprint and cut local emissions.    
• £100 doubles to £200 – this goes towards supporting the development of a local group’s Climate Action Plan.   
• £500 doubles to £1,000 – the works! This fuels the implementation of a bespoke climate action plan in a local community.    

Here’s how your donation can make a difference

CSE provides support to communities. Recently, we worked with Chew Stoke to audit their village hall so that it can become more energy efficient. Community buildings like this are at the heart of so many communities – they are the spaces where people connect, learn, and support each other. But due to increasing energy bills and financial pressures, more and more are at risk of closing. CSE’s energy efficiency survey provided Chew Stoke Village Hall with vital guidance and knowledge.
