Why our advice is needed – an update to the Share the Warmth appeal
CSE’s energy advisors speak to thousands of people every day, many are in desperate situations without heating, hot water or even hope things will improve, like Pablo.
Cold homes are bad for mental and physical health and our advisors help tackle the root causes of fuel poverty – cold homes, low incomes and high energy bills. We provide support to those in crisis situations and it often takes multiple calls to resolve important issues, issues that cause significant discomfort and often danger to a person’s life.
How donations help Share the Warmth
We have been amazed by the generous support for our Share the Warmth Appeal, already raising over £6,000.
£6,000 allows our advisors to support around 60 people, assessing their unique needs and how we can help them.
Our service offers:
- Crisis support such as prepayment meter vouchers or food vouchers.
- Skilled advice and support which includes debt management and energy-saving measures.
- Home improvement and insulation advice to tackle the causes of cold homes.
- Benefit checks so people can access the support they’re entitled to.
- Mediating calls between people and their energy supplier.
We estimate our advice would typically save 50 people more than £13,000 or £260 each. As well as having a warmer, drier home people can use these savings to buy other essentials like food.
The more money we raise, the more people we can help through this worrying winter. Nobody should have to suffer a cold home.
We’re extremely grateful to Thrive Renewables for their support of the Share the Warmth appeal.
We also greatly value the support of corporate partners, trusts and foundations. To find out more about how we could work together please contact us via email at supporter@cse.org.uk – we’d love to hear from you.
